1 Day Bottom of the World
Depart from Hobart and journey to Australia’s southern most point. Cockle Creek, 120km south of Hobart, is the access point (for the intrepid) to the immense wilderness of the South West National Park and there is nothing between you and Antarctica except the vast Southern Ocean.

This area is rich in history: whaling, saw milling, mining and at least 40,000 years of Indigenous habitation. Take the opportunity to relax on the pristine coastline of Recherche Bay or walk along the coast to the “Bottom of the World” (approx 2 hours return). There is also the option to travel on Australia’s southern most railway, the Ida Bay Bush Railway (at own expense). After a |
relaxing lunch on the beach
we stop in Geeveston, with
its unique wooden sculptures
representing various iconic
locals. There’s time to check
out the Forest and Heritage
Centre (optional). A highlight
today is the Tahune Airwalk
(one of the longest treetop
walks in Australia). Check
out the new Indiana Jones
style suspension bridge
across the river, learn about
the forest on an interpretive
walk with your guide or
simply relax in the café and
enjoy the serenity! Thrill
seekers will be keen to Eagle
Hang Glide amongst the tree
tops (own expense)! After a
fun filled day, relax on the
journey back to Hobart. BRING Wear comfortable walking shoes, hat & sunscreen, swimming gear, camera & film.
