A 10.5-hour one-way drive from Launceston to Hobart that pivots around Freycinet National Park. You'll have up to four hours to explore at your own pace—tackle the Wineglass Bay summit, climb Mt Amos, or opt for the guided lookout walk and Cape Tourville stroll. Swim at Honeymoon Bay, then finish with fresh oysters and local wines at the marine farm before continuing south to Hobart.

What to expect

You'll spend the morning driving south along the Great Eastern Drive with live commentary from your guide. At Freycinet, the itinerary splits: strong hikers get four hours to pursue whatever appeals—the full Wineglass Bay circuit, Mt Amos's steep pitch, or quieter routes. Those after gentler movement join the guide for a 1.5-hour return walk to the lookout and a coastal ramble. Everyone reconvenes for a swim at Honeymoon Bay, then you'll stop at the marine farm to sample local seafood and wine (paid separately). The final leg heads toward Hobart.

Good to know

Bring sturdy walking shoes and pack swimwear. Lunch stops are your own cost along the route. You'll need moderate fitness for any trail; spinal injuries and cardiovascular concerns warrant checking with the operator first. One large suitcase plus carry-on fit in the vehicle.
