Sail Hobart Harbour aboard a Sydney to Hobart race yacht with experienced crew. This three-hour active sailing experience lets you work the winches, steer, or simply watch as you navigate one of Australia's most dramatic harbours. You'll spot the city skyline, Mt Wellington's forested slopes, and possibly dolphins, seals, penguins or whales. Morning or afternoon tea with local produce and optional wine or beer complete the outing.

What to expect

You'll board a proper ocean racing yacht with a professional skipper and crew. They'll brief you on safety, then it's up to you—actively help sail the boat, take a turn steering, or sit back and soak in the harbour. Expect genuine sailing conditions: the boat will heel, there'll be spray, and you might feel the effort of racing across the water. The crew swing between storytelling and pointing out wildlife or landmarks. Refreshments arrive partway through—local baked goods and cured meats—giving you a breather to chat or absorb the views.

Good to know

Wear flat-soled shoes (trainers best). Pack layers—weather dictates conditions, and the breeze cools quickly on water. Public transport gets you to the departure point; no hotel pickups included. Minimum passenger numbers must be met or the trip cancels with full refund offered. Maximum 18 sailors per voyage.
